Sexual orientation : The death of his wife left Edric feeling bitter and averse to any kind of sexuality, or perhaps just hateful. Otherwise, one can think of him as straight. He has never been with anyone under 5’10”. For a relationship with Edric to last, she must be just as headstrong as he is and ready and willing to fight him every step of the way. She should not have to be taken care of, because she certainly won’t be.

Hobbies : Muggle pop culture. Playing guitar. Smoking far too much. Soapboxing about freedom of speech. Ignoring the ferret.
Occupation : An Obliviator in the past, currently unemployed. Living off inherited fortune. Bored.

Where they are/where they want to be : Recently returned to Ireland after a two year disconnect from reality. Hating it, but determined to grow roots once again. Unemployed, probably still being hunted by the Ministry for unfinished jail term for murder and wary of old friends in case of being accused of desertion, Edric is feeling pretty isolated. Wants to reconnect with society, get his home back and come to terms with his only son becoming an adult. And maybe get back into some familiar activism.

Since Deathly Hallows : Edric’s involvement in the final battle was cut short when he stumbled upon his blinded son. It had already been a year of discontent, where Edric was left angry at the world after a brief stint in Azkaban. He routinely questioned the motivations of his fellows and his own self worth. The incident compounded with the similar occurrence of treachery that killed his wife motivated him to flee and not look back. So he bought a boat, threw his son and best friend on it, and took a long vacation. Simple.

How the war affected them : Edric was one of the first to join the Death Eaters, young and fresh from school in the mid 1950’s. His belief in the cause was, and still is, quite strong, and he would love to tell you about it when you have an evening. His belief in the execution was left wanting—not the radical violence, but the blind faith and narrow motivations. Still, it took quite a lot to break him of his devotion; twice brutalizing his only son would be more than enough for any man.
He is a long time veteran, so it is not clear if any of Edric’s quirks or neuroses are due entirely to the recent war. He has made peace with the fact that he is a killer, and the idea does not disturb him. He is quick to blame any losses and any pain he has caused on others. He is not prepared to beg forgiveness for any of the choices he made while serving Voldemort.
